Connect Flight Logbook to your AI assistant

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Grok about your hours, currencies and certificates, and log a flight just by describing it.

Before you start

Flight Logbook has an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants connect to other services. Claude, ChatGPT and Grok connect to it after you log in and allow access, and other MCP tools, such as Claude Code and Codex, connect with a personal key you create under Settings → AI Assistants.

  • You need a Flight Logbook account. Sign up or log in.
  • A new account first adds an aircraft and a crew member, the first two steps on Ego Wall. Then the AI assistant is open.
  • With an active membership the assistant can use everything below. When a membership has expired, it can still show your logbook summary and search your flights, like the app, but not the rest.
  • When you connect, a Flight Logbook window opens where you log in and click Allow. Your password is never shared with the assistant.

Connect Claude

  1. In a new chat with Claude, write:
Connect to my Flight Logbook at https://www.flightlogbook.com/mcp
  2. A Flight Logbook window opens. Log in if asked, check that it says you will be sent back to claude.ai, and click Allow.
Claude didn't connect, or you're on a Team or Enterprise plan?
  1. Open Customize → Connectors, click + Add and choose Add custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, and members then find Flight Logbook under Customize → Connectors.
  2. Name it Flight Logbook, use the address https://www.flightlogbook.com/mcp and click Continue.
  3. Keep the choices Claude marks as Detected: Sign in now and Register automatically. Leave Request headers empty. Claude's published identity is not supported.
  4. Click Add, then Connect, and allow access in the Flight Logbook window.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Plugins → Browse the directory.
  2. Click Add, then choose Add a custom MCP server.
  3. Enter Flight Logbook as the name and use this MCP server URL:
    https://www.flightlogbook.com/mcp
  4. Select OAuth as the authentication method. If client ID and client secret fields appear, leave them empty.
  5. Follow the prompts to connect. When the Flight Logbook authorization page opens, log in if asked. Check that it says you will be sent back to chatgpt.com, then click Allow.
  6. Complete the setup in ChatGPT and enable Flight Logbook in your chat's tools menu if needed.

Connect Grok

  1. In a new chat with Grok, write:
Connect to my Flight Logbook at https://www.flightlogbook.com/mcp
  2. A Flight Logbook window opens. Log in if asked, check that it says you will be sent back to grok.com or x.ai, and click Allow.
Grok didn't connect?
  1. Go to grok.com/connectors and click New Connector.
  2. Choose Custom, name it Flight Logbook and use the server URL https://www.flightlogbook.com/mcp.
  3. Click Add connector, and allow access in the Flight Logbook window.

What the assistant can do

Once connected, you can ask your assistant things like:

  • Your hours: "How much PIC time have I logged this year?" or "How much have I flown in the last 90 days, split by aircraft type?"
  • Currencies and certificates: "Am I current for night landings?" or "Which of my certificates expire in the next two months?"
  • Your history: "Show my latest flights." or "When did I last fly with Anna?"
  • Check your logbook: "Look for duplicate flights, overlapping times or inconsistent entries."
  • Log a flight: "Log today's flight ESSA–ESGG in SE-JKL, off block 08:00, on block 09:05, I was PIC." Or upload a photo of your flight plan and say "Log this flight."

Reads

  • Logbook summary
  • Search flights
  • Flight time totals
  • Aircraft
  • Crew
  • Custom fields
  • Currencies
  • Flight time limits
  • Certificates

Adds

  • Add a flight
  • Add an aircraft
  • Add a crew member

It sees only your own logbook. It can add flights, aircraft and crew members but cannot change or delete anything: corrections are made in Flight Logbook. Flight Logbook asks the assistant to show you each new flight and wait for your yes before it is saved.

Your logbook stays yours

What Flight Logbook enforces

  • The assistant connects with OAuth: you log in on flightlogbook.com and allow access. It gets a token for your logbook, never your password.
  • Every request only reaches the logbook of the pilot who allowed it. There is no way to reach another pilot's data.
  • The assistant can read your logbook and add flights, aircraft and crew members. There is no tool to change or delete anything, so it can never rewrite your history. Corrections are made in Flight Logbook.
  • You can disconnect at any time under Settings → AI Assistants. The assistant loses access at once.

What Flight Logbook asks of the assistant

  • Before saving a flight, the assistant is asked to show it to you and wait for your yes. Flight Logbook cannot force an assistant to do so, so check what it shows you before you say yes.
  • It is asked never to guess night, IFR and similar times, and to ask you before it adds a new aircraft or crew member.

If something doesn't work

  • The assistant says it has no Flight Logbook tools. Check that Flight Logbook is connected and turned on for the chat. If it is, disconnect it in the assistant's settings and connect again.
  • No Flight Logbook window opens. Allow pop-ups for your assistant's website and try again.
  • The assistant asks you to log in again, or says access was denied. The connection has been disconnected under Settings → AI Assistants, or it has expired. Connect again and click Allow.
  • The assistant says AI assistants are not open yet. Add your first aircraft and crew member in Flight Logbook, then ask again.
  • The assistant says your membership has expired. Renew it under Membership. Until then, the summary and flight search still work.
